We need to talk about Toilet Paper.

Yes, really.

You may be surprised to learn that some toilet paper is in fact not vegan. Not only are some not vegan, some are not even vegetarian. I KNOW THIS SEEMS LIKE MADNESS.

Why? Well it turns out that some manufacturers use Gelatin to hold the paper fibres together. Gelatin, for those new to this ingredient, is made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage, and bones from animals.

A bit of a shocker right? I think I’m getting to the stage where nothing will surprise me anymore!

Now, no-one is suggesting you start carting around your own toilet roll for when you are out, (although that is of course an option if you wish). But if you would like to consider having vegan-friendly toilet paper at home, here are some vegan toilet paper brands in the UK, which are also eco-friendly and allow you to order online in bulk. Some even have free delivery!

THE CHEEKY PANDA ? TOP BUY ?

Free delivery on Amazon as it’s over £20 which is a result in itself. This toilet paper is vegan, B.P.A free, formaldehyde free, chlorine free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. It’s made with 100% sustainable bamboo and is 3-ply. You get 45 rolls for around £26, or order in smaller quantities if you’d rather. Buy now on Amazon.

ECOLEAF

It’s vegan, recycled and has no additional chemicals or dyes in. I found it rather amusing that Nature’s Healthbox, who sell this, have ‘Directions of Use’…I think we’ve all got that hang of this product…!  Buy now at Natures Healthbox.

Who Gives A Crap

WHO GIVES A CRAP

I’ve been bombarded with adverts for this on the All Things Vegan UK instagram, but credit where it’s due, it’s a cool looking toilet roll. You can buy 48 double length toilet rolls for £36 making it a great option for bulk buying and delivery is free. Buy now from Who Gives A Crap.

So, as well as milk powder getting into your favourite crisps, and all other kinds of odd places, you are now aware of an even more bizarre product that isn’t vegan.
